FEDERER WILL PLAY

The World no. 1, Roger Federer, has said that he would participate in the Cincinnati Open. Federer has been out of action after losing the final match of the Olympics singles competition against Andy Murray. He hadn’t taken part in the Rogers Cup because he wanted to spend a bit of time with his family. After resting for some days, he is ready to be back on the court again. Federer said that the Cicinnati tournament would help him in his preparations for the US Open.

Federer has a fantastic record in Cincinnati Open. He has won this tournament 4 times before (in 2005, 2007, 2009 and 2010). However, he wasn’t able to perform that well in the previous edition of the tournament and he was defeated by Tomas Berdych of Czech Republic in the quarterfinal.

Federer has got a bye in the opening round of the tournament so he will start his campaign from the second round. Some top players including Rafael Nadal and Nicolas Almagro have ruled themselves out of this tournament. So, Federer has got a very good chance to win the Cincinnati again – the tennis betting sites have made him the clear favourite.

On being asked about the defeat in the Olympic singles final, Federer said that you cannot win every match that you play. It was Murray’s day and he didn’t miss the opportunities. The crowd was behind him and he didn’t let his fans down. Federer said that he is very happy to be able to win a silver medal for his country.

On being asked about his targets in the future, Federer said that he is concentrating on the final grand slam of the year, US Open, at the moment. Last year, Federer was defeated in the semifinal of the US Open by the Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic, but the latest US Open betting suggests that the bookies thinks he would beat the Serbian if the pair met at Flushing Meadows.
