Jankovic To Take Part In Tianjin Open

It’s confirmed now that Jelena Jankovic is one of the players who are going to take part in the first edition of the Tianjin Open.

Tianjin Open will take place in China in the coming October. Quite a few overseas players have already signed up for that and now, the news of Jankovic signing up is going to add more spice to the event.

Some former players would also be seen featuring in Tianjin Open namely the Swiss legend Martina Hingis and the Slovakian great Daniela Hantuchova.

Speaking to the press, Jankovic said, “I feel excited whenever I get the opportunity to play in a new event because I like visiting new places. I have been to China a few times and I have done well playing there. I hope it’s the same this time around as well.”

The chairman of the organizing committee of the Tianjin Open, who made the announcement of Jankovic signing up, also looked quite delighted and optimistic too about the success of the event. He said, “We wanted to convince a high ranked overseas player to participate in the tournament and we succeeded in that as Jelena Jankovic, the world no. 8, has agreed to come here. She is a player who is widely liked in China and I believe she would prove to be a crowd puller.”

Jankovic’s form of late hasn’t been too bad. She played well in the clay court tournaments, reaching the quarter finals in Charleston, while, the final in Bogota. She would be eyeing to make a mark in the hard court season now which is coming up shortly.

As far as Tianjin Open is concerned, the matches of that event would be played over a period of 7 days from 6th to 12th of October.
